About LISA

The Council of Faroese Artists (LISA) is the national association of Faroese artists´ unions and was established in 1982. 

 

Eleven Faroese artists´unions are members of the council, each having one delegate in its assembly. The delegates´assembly is LISA´s final authority.

 

The executive committee consists of three persons chosen by the delegates at the annual general meeting. It is responsible for LISA´s day to day operations.

LISA / The Council of Faroese Artists aims:

to strengthen the role and position of the arts and the artists in cultural-political contexts.

to work for common interests and rights of its members.

to represent members generally in matters that are of common interest to all its members.

Artists Residency - Skúlin í Tjørnuvík

The executive commitee of LISA manges the Artist Residency in Tjørnuvík, based on an agreement made between Sunda Municipality and LISA back in 2014, allowing LISA to use the old village school in Tjørnuvík as an artist residency.

 

The residency is situated in the scenic, yet isolated village on the northernmost part of the main island of Streymoy. About an hour´s drive from the capital Tórshavn. In this residence, there is a perfect environment to retreat from everyday life and immerse yourself in one´s work.

 

The residency is suitable for an artist or artist group of maximum two at a time. Faroese as well as foreign artists may rent the residence.

 

There are two floors in the artist residence. The ground floor has a studio (classroom, 26 m2) as well as a bathroom and bedroom. Upstairs there is a kitchen and a sitting room.
